(1st) The weather at the end of June and today has been briliant; sunshine, blue skies and temperatures up in the 20’s C! Maybe summer has arrived but don’t bank on it..... I’ve been in Email contact with a new student from Turkey: Ilkay, who will be arriving on Saturday 3rd July at about 5pm. I’ll publish his photo on Saturday evening. In the meantime have a look at the Modelling page to see how I got on last month and started off with some ‘gusto’ this month. (2nd) Went into the garden this morning and noticed ‘Simon’s Rose’ had a visitor; one of ‘Heather’s fuchsia’ buds had strayed across! |

Sorry about the focus, but it was early......!! |

(3rd) Weather still perfect and the temperatures up in the 20’s C! Should remain like it for the weekend....... We welcomed Ilkay from Turkey this afternoon. Click on Students present for his photo. (10th) As above, the weather gets hotter and hotter! Still in the 20’s + C. People are walking around the town in various states of undress and burnt; as their pale skin gets cooked nicely! I try to go out in the morning and do bits of shopping when it’s cooler and have a ‘siesta’ in the afternoon when its too hot for walking about. Still managing to model see Modelling for the latest efforts, with the conservatory door wide open and a breeze blowing through to cool ‘my fevered brow’..... Living by the seaside as opposed to town/city life has many advantages at this time of year. Not least of which is the slower pace of living and ‘laissez fair’ attitude when the temperature rises. (17th) Sotaro from Japan left us at 4am this morning for a flight from Gatwick for Budapest in Hungary! I gather that’s where he lives now so lets hope he has a good flight and arrives suitably refreshed after his stay at 52. The weather here is somewhat changeable with sun, showers and some ‘gusty’ winds. Although I’m pleased to see the rain; with the winds drying the baskets and window boxes. A nightly water with the hose pipe both here and next door (my neighbour) is still a must. I’m expecting another student in the ‘twin’ room to replace Sotaro and make company for Ilkay. I’ve prepared the room and await his arrival....... He arrived this afternoon click on Students present for his photo. Hisham from Saudi Arabia. He tells me that his parents are coming for a visit and he’s booked them into the ‘San Clu’ hotel on the seafront, close to here. So maybe more news as it happens.... (20th) Vu from Vietnam left us this morning for alternative accommodation. The school sent a taxi for him at 10 am. He left a lot of personal ‘stuff’ which I’ve bagged up for him to collect, as and when! Hisham’s parents have decided to stay in London so maybe we’ll see them in the future! (25th) Yesterday evening we welcomed Welshman Gareth from China as leader of a group of Chinese students studying at CHSE for a short stay of 2 weeks. As a 23 year old with a degree and a TESOL certificate I think it’s very brave of him to go so far from his home in Wales to China for his first teaching assignment. He talks of his class sizes being in excess of 50 students! Click on Students present for his photo. It will be interesting to see where he goes next in his travels...... (27th) All ‘domestics’ completed for this week so now I get some ‘me’ time? The group leader Gareth has gone over to Margate to enquire about hiring a push bike from Ken for a week. Last night I gave him the details and said how ‘Chocolate Peter’ was looked after. The Swiss German student who was here in September 2007 and cycled all over the place during his stay! Click on Students Past and scroll to September 2007 and see my comments on Peter’s cycling adventures while he was here. At this moment I have 4 beds occupied out of the 5 available and with 1 twin room used as a single for the next 2 weeks. It looks as though that will be it for a while.......hmmm! I’m going to upload this data and then go downstairs and ‘unwind’ with a bit of modelling...... Go onto Modelling and see the results. |
